This soft-cover, unlined journal is adorned with hand screen printed flowers and is crafted by rural and low-income artisans from Northern India. The paper is made from 100% cotton hosiery waste scrap fabric that has been discarded by cotton t-shirt manufacturers.
How It's Made:
Artisans first blend scrap fabric with water until the mixture becomes a watery paste. To create the broad spectrum of colors, vibrant azo-free dyes are added at this stage. Artisans then pull wire mesh screens through tubs filled with the mixture, forming sheets. These wet sheets are skillfully transferred from the screen into stacks, each sheet separated with layers of fabric.
