African Bronze Honey has trained over 10,000 beekeepers. It is the largest exporter of honey in Africa and has been a model for similar projects across the continent. The project provides employment and a sustainable wage in an area where few opportunities exist. Many of the employees are women. Beekeeping is a job that women can do on their own and it often becomes a family enterprise. Beekeepers use natural, chemical-free methods to manage the hives. The honey is harvested and processed without pasteurization to preserve nutrients and natural flavors. Forest honey’s unique taste comes from “honeydew,” a sugary, nectar-like liquid derived from tree sap.
